2023 American Architecture Awards
The Chicago Athanaem Museum of Architecture and Design
Signal is honored to have Encompass Northwest recognized by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design with a 2023 American Architecture Award.
The American Architecture Awards are the nation’s highest and oldest public awards given by a non-commercial, non-trade affiliated, public arts, culture, and educational institution.
The Awards are organized by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies—jointly presenting this annual, prestigious program for Design Excellence and for the best and next contributions to innovative contemporary American architecture.
We are thrilled to have received this honor from the esteemed jury:
Stephan Hertzog, busk+hertzog
Daniel Germani, Daniel Germani Design
Karim Rashid, Karim Rashid Design
Kibok Song, LIXIL
Luke Pearson, Pearson Lloyd
We believe this recognition is a testament to the jury’s sensitivity to the functionality of the space, rather than the overt design features. This isn’t an architecture-first building—this is a space designed at the eye level of the children who come here, and as a tool for the therapists who work here. They didn’t need a grand cantilever; they needed the building to work as hard as they do.
“Every room in this building is purpose-built. It is more than a clinic. It is built with our families and clients in mind.”
